New German Immigration Laws Have Finally Been Passed

Guten tag Reader -

We're now back to regular programming! Lots of German startups have received funding for digitalizing the healthcare and insurance industries. One of our lovely community members shares a big job interview fail. And BOOM, Germany finally passed a bunch of new immigration laws, including the ability to come to Germany without a formal job offer and even work while you're looking for your new gig.

We cover all of this and more in our June 25, 2023 edition of The Berlin Life newsletter:

⦾ In last week's newsletter, I shared some things I experienced and observed during my recent search for a job in Berlin. You can catch it here - Something a Little Different - Personal Reflections on Searching for a Job in Germany.
⦾ Thanks to those who signed up for a premium newsletter subscription! This week they're going to hear all about my quitting story - because quitting a job in Germany is more complicated than one would think. And they're also going to receive an invite to an online 1<>1 meeting where they can ask me for advice about moving to Germany, looking for work, etc. If this sounds interesting to you, read more about our newest offering and be sure to sign up. 👇

Community Stories

We asked our |community members to share their biggest interview fails and here's what one of our readers had to say:

At the very start of my career, in my early 20s, I was looking for a job as an event planner, as I was a bit experienced previously. Once, I was at a job interview with one event company when they asked me about my experience. I told them everything and in the end, I lied a little bit about one hotel opening ceremony event. At that time I was working for that hotel and was nearby from the event. It happened that the hotel opening ceremony was held by the event company I was interviewing with. So, my lie had "short legs" and the moment was unforgettably embarrassing.

Do you have an embarrassing moment to share from one of your job interviews? 💀 Share your story and we'll include it in one of our future newsletters.
